S3/5 2 way stand or bookshelf loudspeaker For over two decades Spendor was licensed to manufacture the legendary LS3/5a BBC mini-monitor loudspeaker. It became an international reference standard. In 1998 when Spendor learned that manufacture of the LS3/5a drive units was to cease, we decided to develop our own 140mm (5inch) bass-midrange drive unit using modern materials and technology. Combining this with a small 20mm Vifa soft dome tweeter, new crossover engineering and a more up-to-date look we created the Spendor S3/5. Many discerning listeners consider it to be the most transparent and truly musical mini-loudspeaker they have ever heard and the S3/5 has won many awards. |

The new Spendor S3/5se is an advanced version of the S3/5. It maintains the fundamental objectives of the original LS3/5a and S3/5 while raising the sound quality and technical performance to a new level of refinement. To maintain the 'BBC Sound' the S3/5se has a thin walled heavily damped cabinet and our special Spendor 140mm bass-midrange drive unit. The S3/5se incorporates a high performance 19mm soft dome Spendor-Scanspeak tweeter and a new crossover network. The crossover features the same topology and engineering as our latest Spendor 'S' series loudspeakers The new S3/5se offers even better sound integration, more even frequency response through the critical mid-band, improved tonal balance and significantly better power handling. Subtle improvements to the off-axis energy output allow the S3/5se to deliver its beautifully open and realistic sound in a wider variety of listening environments. |
